I felt like it was a "Bait and Switch"

For me integrity is everything and unfortunately I feel like Available Logistics has a "Bait and Switch" approach to their business.

I called many car transporters in search of a company to ship my grandmother's vehicle to her in Texas. Available Logistics was extremely quick to follow up with a great price. They said the price was lower because they had a cancellation on the truck. The other transporters warned me about a "Bait and Switch" and I should have listened.

The price they quoted me was $540. I had to submit a $175 deposit and then they emailed a contract to be signed with the verbiage "exclusive of the broker fee". I immediately emailed them and asked if there was going to be an additional fee on top of the $540 they had quoted. The email response I received is below was

"Hi Jennifer, $540 is the total price. You left $175 deposit, so all you have to pay on delivery is $365. The driver accepts cash, postal money orders or certified checks, no checks, no credit or debit cards."

I emailed them back and stated that I accepted the contract based on the email I received (posted above). The car was picked up early and the driver was very friendly.

When the car arrived to my grandmother (who is 81 years old) she had the $365 cash ready for payment. The driver refused to give her the car unless she paid an additional $175 on top of the $365. She told the driver that the amount that we agreed upon was $365 at delivery. He refused to give her the car until he got the additional $175. Unfortunately I was unreachable and in another state so she paid him and hoped that I would get it straightened out. Mind you that this is a lot of money for my grandmother!!!

I immediately emailed Larry requesting that a check for $175 be returned to my grandmother and received no response. I emailed him again after three weeks and asked for him to respond or I would escalate the matter. I did get a response then. He stated that the contract says, "exclusive of the broker fee". Mind you that when I asked him about this writing in the contract he sent the email above which clearly stated the total to be $540. Interestingly enough you don't even get the contract until after you've made a deposit of $175.

I doubt Available Logistics will ever return the $175 and it would be too costly and timely to pursue the $175 in court. However, I hope I can save others from this experience.

What's interesting about the whole situation is that their price ended up being similar to many other quotes and the driver was friendly. However, the way that they get your business is unethical. They intentionally misrepresent the total price to make the price look lower and then charge you more. Based on this I cannot recommend this company and will not use them again.

I hope this email was helpful. When I looked at this site there were very few reviews about this company.

the customer was fully aware of the 175.00 broker fee, she was contacted on 8/24 regarding this matter and knew fully about it and physically approved it in writing, now it became a problem very conveniently.
