Filiberto (Moises) Rivera took my car for a joy ride and while doing so damaged the right rear fender, the driver side door, and the interior of the car. He tried to cover his tracks by tampering with the Bill of Laden. When I figured out what he had done and began trying to resolve the situation, he *admitted* he had done it. He also admitted it to the insurance agent. But, of course, I'll never see a dime from him. He's done this *exact* same thing before. He's mentioned by name in a review of the company Unlimited Autotransport (without the LLC). Details of my experience follow.
He picked up my Beetle in CO. It was in pristine condition and I have a copy of the Bill of Laden that confirms it. When he arrived in PA and removed the car from the carrier, I saw some damage to the right, rear fender and asked him about it. He said that it was already there and as "proof" he showed me the top copy of the Bill of Laden that he had altered to show that the damage existed prior to shipment. It seemed suspicious, so I contacted the previous owner and asked him if he had a copy of the Bill of Laden. He did and he sent me a copy, so it was then clear that Moises had altered the BL. I decided to check the odometer and learned that he had driven my car 80 miles. That explained the damage to the exterior and the filthy condition of the interior- food crumbs, grease on the door panels, mud prints everywhere.
The bizarre thing is that his insurance agent said that since the damage was done while the car was off the carrier, they are not liable! This is the same insurance company (Northland Insurance Company) that is named in the other negative review that I mentioned above. So, these guys have a get-out-of-jail-free card. If the driver damages your car while in transport, all he has to do is claim that it happened while off the carrier, then no one is liable- unless you want to hire a lawyer.
Please don't use this company.
