After several weeks dealing with 2 different brokers and their lies, - “The driver will call you in a couple of days” - “His truck broke down” - “This weekend looks Good” – “Can you sweeten the pot a little” – “That is an out of the way place” – “Let’s give it until Friday” And raising my price several times I decided to try the direct route and avoid the brokers.

I searched the internet for sometime trying to find a direct trucking company that looked trustworthy. I happened upon Tim Stears Auto Transport. I was also interested in this company because they were from the next town over from where I grew up. Their website said they specialize in the Northeast to Southwest route. The price on the website said most transports were about $900. After what I had been through I thought it was too good to be true.

On August 25th, I e-mailed my information to the address listed on the website and waited for a response. Well I didn’t wait long. I received a response the next morning from a woman named Sue and she said she could have the vehicle picked up on Tuesday August 30th and the price quote I received was $1000. (This was the week before Hurricane Katrina and fuel prices were skyrocketing, so I felt this was a very fair price.) She also stated,

“If that all meets with your approval let me know and I will save you a spot on our truck and forward our contract.”
“Thank you for giving our company an opportunity to quote this transport for you. I look forward to working with you.”
“Have a great day!”
Sue

August 26th, I called Sue that morning and verbally agreed to the contract. Sue explained that the vehicle would be picked up on time but wouldn’t be leaving for Phoenix for about a week to ten days due to scheduled maintenance on the truck. I told Sue this was not a problem. Sue e-mailed me the contract which I signed and returned to her that day.

August 28th, I received an e-mail form Sue confirming that the Vehicle would be ready for pickup.

August 29th, I received a phone call from Tim verifying the pickup location and estimated time of pickup.

August 30th, I received a call from Tim an hour before the pickup.

September 2nd, I received an e-mail from Sue saying that Tim is scheduled the start his trip westward on Monday the 5th or Tuesday the 6th and I should expect the vehicle to arrive around the 11th or 12th.

September 10th, I received a message from Tim saying he had some delivery issues which have slowed his trip and would be arriving a day or 2 later. He left me his cell phone number so I could keep in touch with him and be able to plan my week.

September 12th, I received a call from Tim saying he was leaving Tucson and would be able to deliver the vehicle on the 13th. I asked if it was possible to delay the delivery until the morning of the 14th due to my work schedule. He said this was not a problem.

September 14th, I received a call from Tim indicating he was in route to my house to deliver the vehicle in about an hour and a half. When Tim arrived (On time) the first thing he did was shake my hand and thank me for my business. After a brief conversation he unloaded my vehicle. We finished the paperwork and again he thanked me and off he went.

GREAT COMMUNICATION!

Since this was first dealing in this business I can see how easy it is for delays and unforeseen problems to arise that keeping an exact schedule is near impossible. But the next best thing is to keep the client apprised through timely communication. Which is what Sue and Tim did!

So in a nut shell, my vehicle was shipped across the country at a very reasonable price with a 1 day delay by a company which truly appreciated my business. How could I have anything to complain about?

Sue and Tim,

Thank you so much for the great service and professionalism!
