DO NOT CONTRACT WITH SGT UNTIL READING THIS!!!! I contracted with SGT to ship my new Ioniq 5 from Colorado to Delaware. The car was picked up a day late but that was the least of the problems. The car was damaged in shipment and the horror story began. Regardless of what SGT’s web site implies, they do not take responsibility for the shipment. Their only responsibility is to contract with a carrier and once that carrier is dispatched, they are done. Their Website says they “work with 25000 reliable carriers”, but I got a very unreliable carrier. SGT states: “We include comprehensive insurance coverage… You know your vehicle is fully covered and secure throughout your auto transport service”. That is BS!! Once they dispatch the carrier, you are switched to the carrier’s insurance. In my case the carrier said they had insurance, but that insurance came with a $2500 deductible, so I was responsible for $2500. What happened to that “fully covered”? I asked the carrier to cover the deductible, but they refused and disappeared. SGT also said they had no responsibility, even though they chose the carrier. To make matters worse, since the carrier disappeared, the insurance company had no claim, so I was on the hook for all the damages. I was out over $3000. So here is my advice: • Do not contract with SGT or any transport broker. Contract directly with a carrier, the company who is going to ship your vehicle. • Read the carriers Terms and Conditions in detail. Don’t believe advertising hype. • Only use a carrier who will guarantee they will cover the total cost of any damage. • Do your due diligence on the carrier. References, BBB, ratings, etc. Hopefully you will never have an experience like mine, but for sure, you can do more to protect yourself than SGT. Good Luck.
