3 car cross country folly...the deceptions!

I was moving from Los Angeles California area to Orlando Florida area. I hired Cross Country Auto Transport after contact about 6 different companies, they seemed the most professional on the phone and emails, but that as it turns out was it! I wanted 3 cars shipped cross country and they charged me $2500. $325 as a retainer (most of these companies are brokers, this is their fee). Rest due on receipt of vehicles. They were suppose to come pick up the cars 6/27-6/28. They picked up one then returned it later that day because of a battery failure. I fixed it then asked them to pick it up the next day with the other 2 cars. Thats where the problems began, no one did so for the following week and I had to leave my vehicles with a relative to be picked up because we flew to Florida and my stuff was shipped as well. After many delays, excuses, etc, I found this wonderful website and found that, at the time, Cross Country was #4 on the bad list (when this site had a "bad list")! I was sick to my stomach...because of the delays in moving the cars I had to rent a car and I was living this nightmare! I called them the next morning and fired them and hired Angels Moving Autos. They were great...came picked up the cars in less than 48 hours and were cheaper too! Great Communications from Angels and I got my cars in a week! I have since filed a dispute with my credit card company and they are going after them! Lesson learned! Use a Credit Card and check this site before hiring any auto transporter! ***update...
After some time my Credit Card company re-instated the charges because of the fight CCA (Cross Country Auto) put up over the issue. Then to add insult to injury, CCA contacted this site to deny that I was ever a customer and said that they couldn't find records that I was ever a customer and to pull my review. I responded with documentation immediately to this sites admins email address and phone to re-instate my review, but have not heard back from them since then or seen my review posted again. That was around Feb 22-23rd 2006 and its now March 10th. I am sure this fine sites administration just had an oversite on their response to get back to me. I have filed a complaint with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) which CCA has now replied to the complaint with their side of the story. Its interesting that they found the records now! They can't have it both ways! They have been paid, but this review is accurate and they should reap what they sow! Beware of CCA!!!

First of all the reason we thought Mr. Plummer was not our customer was because he did not post his last name on his complaint and the information that he posted was not correct. On June 13, 2005, Mr Plummer contracted us to transport three vehicles for him for $2,500.00. A deposit of $325.00 was taken and a remaining balance of $2,175 was to be paid upon delivery. His estimated pick up dates were June 28th-29th. On June 14th J&B auto carrier was dispatched to pick up Mr. Plummer vehicles on his scheduled dates. Unfortunalty the driver was delayed a few days. Mr. PLummer called in on the 1st of July, and was advised of the delay, and also gave us a knew address for pick up. On the 5th the driver called customer to schedule pick up, but was told he was not going to be releasing them at all to the driver. Customer states that one vehicle was picked up, and then brought back to location because of a flat tire. No vehicles were ever picked up from his location. As per Mr. plummers review he found a cheaper company to pick up his vehicles. The customer states that he canceled with our company this is not true. If you look at our BBB rating you will see that we respond to any and all complaints filed against us. We transported over 15,000 cars in 2005. So unfortunately we are going to have some complaints. But we do our best to resolve every single one of them. Information that this customer has contacted the BBB is correct, and has been responded to. Mr. Plummer also did dispute his charges with his credit card company, and lost. In our contract in clearly states that we need 7 days prior notice in order to be eligible for a refund. We attempted to pick up Mr. Plummer's vehicles as we were hired to do.
