I contacted Vanguard Relocation Service after seeing the excellent google reviews. Setting up the service was easy, the lady I spoke with informed me that it would be no problem to transport my grandfathers jeep from Stayton OR to Charleston SC. Because we were out of town and under time constraints, I made it clear that it needed to happen within the next week. She asked for a $50.00 reservation hold to "place the bid". She also stated that she would start the bid at $800.00, which was low and raise the price the next day if no one inquired about the bid. I gave her my contact information and email. After not hearing from them after 24 hours or recieving an email with a contract/invoice, I contaced them and left a message. The next morning I called several times and left another message. After no return calls, I contacted another carrier, and within an hour scheduled a pick up for two days later. The new broker explained that the route was rather difficult to schedule and that a pick up from Portland would be more appealing than in Stayton. I attempted to call and cancel the "bid" from Vanguard, I was met with much hostillity from the female that took the call. She starting yelling at me about finding another broker and starting name calling and insulting the new broker and myself. I have NEVER experienced anything quite like it. She refused to confirm the cancelation. The new broker contaced me about an hour later stating that instead of them canceling the "bid", they have now raised it to over $1100.00 in an attempt to schedule a pick up. Here I write, with no contract or even terms listed on thier website, not sure what to do, and all the while they are attempting to set up a canceled service with my credit card information. Thanks Vanguard. You've made dealing with my grandfathers death across the country an even more crappy experience. You guys are unprofessional scammers.
