I shipped my car ('02 Accord) from Virginia to California. I did a terminal-to-door transport and it cost $1418. I dropped my car off at a terminal in Virginia on Dec 6. They told me they would have it at my door in California on Dec 24, but I ended up getting it earlier on Dec 20. My car arrived in one piece and nothing was stolen. I took my car in to be inspected just in case and everything was in proper order. I was very pleased! United Road definitely is not the cheapest car transport, but I paid the extra to make sure it was done right and my car arrived in the same condition it left.
I did have 2 issues though, which is why I rated them as slightly below average on honesty.
1 - I was told United Road would cover 100% of the damages done to my car. For peace of mind, I went ahead with United Road and paid more than I would have with another transporter knowing that my car was fully insured. However, AFTER I paid, they ended up using Autolog to ship my car, and they only cover up to $500 worth of damage. I was upset because I was told one thing and paid, and then the terms changed. It ended up not being an issue because I have good personal car insurance and my car wasn't even damaged during transport, but I worry a lot and it did not make me feel at ease when the terms of insurance had changed.
2 - I was originally quoted $1285 for a terminal-to-terminal transport, where the terminal in California was roughly 20 minutes away and I could use public transportation to get there (which I needed to use since I didn't have my car, obviously). Again, AFTER I paid, I was told that the terminal in California had closed and the next closest was an hour and 10 minutes away by car, and not accessible by public transportation. But, for $133 more, I could have it shipped directly to where I live. Since I already paid and I was in the process of moving across the whole country, I didn't want to go through the hassle of cancelling with United Road and finding another car transport. So, I just paid the extra money, for a total of $1418.
I had dealt with Michelle Hutchinson and she was just great during this whole process. I know it wasn't her fault these 2 things happened and she was great working through them with me. Overall, I was extremely pleased with United Road and my car was treated with care.
