In early June, 2005, I called National Auto Transport (NAT) to handle my car transport needs from New York to Texas. I was relocating to Texas for a new career.
On June 22, 2005, I signed a credit card authorization that NAT sent me and faxed it back to their agent, Adrian Marcelino. He emailed me back to confirm that he received it and that the order was now in progress. (I have a copy of that email). Aside from telling him when he gave me the quote over the phone that I needed the car in Houston by July 2 the latest, I also made note of it on the credit card authorization that I faxed in. (I have a copy). He told me the car would be picked up on Tuesday, June 28, and that the car will be in Houston 4 days after, maybe on July 5th because of the holiday. The car, after numerous calls to their answering machine, was picked up on Thursday, June 30, 2005.
That was the last time anyone from NAT was responsive to any queries. (Conveniently when I was making a payment.)
In the time leading up to actual delivery, countless calls to NAT were ignored, literally. On the scant occasion that I did reach a human being, I was passified by being lied to about the progress of my delivery. Of the two times I reached someone, "Kyle" in this instance, I was given the number of the company they hired to take my car from my home to the trucking depot, who promptly routed me to BlueBonnet Transport, the company that NAT hired to do the actual car transport from the New York depot to my new home in Houston, Texas.
Bluebonnet Transport, whose owner "Barbara" proceeded to lecture me about delays in the system before hanging up on me when I questioned her service. She blamed all the delays on NAT's irresponsible promises. I spent every other day for the next two weeks talking to NAT's answering machines and writing emails. Calls to Barbara at Bluebonnet were abruptly ended by her every time I called her. Then there was silence. At no point did ANYONE return ANY of my messages. I was on the verge of calling the police and reporting my car stolen. At this point, it was clear that nobody was willing to be accountable.
My car finally arrived to my home on Monday, July 18 at 7:00PM. The driver required $604, instead of the $575 that NAT quoted me. It is a small testament to how sloppy and careless the business is, and a slap in the face to someone they delivered a car over 2 weeks late to.
During the 16 days I was without my car, I was forced to pay $499.75 in rental car fees. Those costs, coupled with the absolute grief and wasted time they caused me, are unacceptable.
The issue is that I paid for a service that they promised me. I had other options, but I chose NAT because they said all the right things. I gave them plenty of time to transport the car to Houston, so there is no argument about not giving them enough time. (Arrangements were made over the phone on June 16, 205, and their deposit was paid on June 22, 2005.) The timetable they set, and the companies they hired on my behalf, are NAT's responsibility, not mine.
This company is a fraud. I gave them the opportunity to respond to my complaints, and they have done nothing. I am in he process of spreading the word about them across the internet, as well as working on a small claims case.
