As a business owner myself, I view satisfying customers as fairly straightforward. Do what you say you are going to do and customers are happy.
We have worked with Magic Carpet in the past and had a pleasant experience, so we figured we would return. In a commoditized market, it helped that they had the lowest price as well. We had worked with Nicole the first time we shipped the car out and requested to work with her again yet she was busy, so Kathy claimed she "could handle it". Well, that turned out to be a lie.
My wife clearly stated that we needed our car picked up by a certain date and we were flexible as far as how far in advance they could pick up our car. When we asked if the car would be picked up by the last day we were in town, Kathy responded, "yes, that's no problem". I even have a receipt that states ""MUST BE PICKED UP NO LATER THAN AUGUST 4TH".
As our move date approached, I started calling to see the status of the shipment. They kept saying that they were "working hard" to get our car picked up, but "there are no guarantees in this industry". Frustrated with their lack of answers, I asked them on more than one occasion to call me back with an update. Unfortunately, they repeatedly did not call me back when they said they would. Long story short, they didn't come by August 4th, I had to scramble to find a friend to leave a key with AND they charged me more than they quoted! What is the point of a quote if "there are no guarantees in this industry"? They might as well just give me a quote for $0.01 to pick up my car yesterday.
Now I understand that Magic Carpet only (poorly) coordinate the shipment and that subcontractors are the ones who actually ship the cars, so I won't even get into the fact that they were "early" delivering the car and then had three separate delays so my father-in-law had to stay at home all night for nothing (while we were getting call about delays at a wedding).
When things got sketchy, I did a little research and fond a review on Yelp that said they had the EXACT SAME EXPERIENCE. Said it wouldn't be a problem to pick up by a certain date, missed date, charged more than quoted.
Only reason I give them one star is because when I actually got in touch with them, they were pleasant to talk with. That said, they were ineffective and did not uphold their end of the agreement.
In closing, DO NOT TRUST THEIR QUOTED PRICE OR THEIR EXPECTED PICK-UP OR DELIVERY DATE. If you can live with this, than go for it. After all, "there are no guarantees in this industry".
