This company has nice people – very accommodating when you are signing up for shipment. But they didn’t get the job done. Long story short – First timers, don’t expect M2Reeves to Pick Up the vehicle on the ‘Pick-Up’ date you request. In fact, expect them to wait about 6 days after you wanted the vehicle picked up before even scheduling a truck. You need to call them constantly. Then, expect them to leave doing any other legwork to you. After all, even though you’re shelling out $$$ to ship your car, they’re only making about $150 on it (and as my story below will show, their attitude is that fact totally absolves them of any responsibility for your vehicle).
I am a first-time shipper and single military member with a set PCS date of August 21st. I contacted m2reeves July 20th. The order form filled out online didn’t work for me (negative), but I contacted the company and the company president himself answered my e-mails and got my move arranged (positive)! They allowed me to pay all of the money in advance through PayPal (positive). I requested a Pick-Up date of August 13th, with a 6 day window expected. About a week to transit across the country, and the vehicle should arrive before my honeymoon. And then I waited. I called back on the evening of the 13th to see how things were going, and the truck still hadn’t been assigned. Waited the weekend, called back Tuesday the 18th, and discovered that the truck STILL had not been assigned. The lady helping me got that promptly resolved and the truck was assigned by that evening – but why do I have to call and push them to assign a vehicle when I requested pickup DAYS ago (negative)? What’s more, the email I received stated that my vehicle would be picked up on August 21st. Not a good day for me, since that is the day I was scheduled to fly out. Delivery date, also, had been set for August 31st, at which point my new husband and I would be on our honeymoon, out of the country.
Frustrated, I called back to see what could be done to bump the dates back, and the response I received frustrated me even more.
“There are no guarantees in auto shipping”,
“The cross-country route is one of the hardest to book and you should be happy that we were able to find a truck going that route at all!”,
“An 8 day window is actually pretty reasonable”,
“It’s not the truck driver’s fault because they didn’t know you even needed to be picked up until yesterday, and it’s not our fault either because booking these things takes time”,
“Well we still really want to ship your vehicle for you, but you can always cancel with us and drive across country [in my black classic vehicle]”,
“Can’t you leave the car with some friends in the area and have them put it on the truck?”.
Did I have a lot to learn about shipping cars? Yes. But there was absolutely no sense that this company felt responsible for booking the dates I requested, or that they were going to try and take any action to make my situation better. Their only suggestion was that I contact the truck driver and carrier company that they had booked. I did this, and the folks at autotransport express were able to assure me that the truck would actually be in my area on the 20th and they would arrange pickup for me then. It was that easy! So why couldn’t M2Reeves do it?
