These guys are now operating under the name "Universal Transport Services", but judging by the other reviews here, they're still up to the same tricks.
When I contacted Universal / Consolidated, I was quoted $1095 for a move by an exceedingly polite and attentive agent. When I gave them my credit card information, they told me the car would be picked up within four days, then promptly disappeared. Two weeks later, I got a call telling me that the move would cost $500 more than I was quoted - an increase of almost fifty percent. I asked that the transaction be cancelled instead, but two days later, they have yet to refund my money.
For comparison's sake, after ditching Universal / Consolidated, I called another broker, Transport Connection, who found me a carrier within a few hours that was willing to do the job for $200 less than Universal's second quote. Unbelievable.
