I was quoted a price of $750 total price with a $230 deposit... paid the deposit and three days later received a call that a contract driver could pick the Jeep up on a certain day but would cost $78 more. I agreed wanting my vehicle quickly. The driver called the gentleman I purchased the Jeep from and said he couldn't do it that day, and would pick it up the following day... after I agreed to pay more for the earlier pick up. The next day the driver arrived to pick up the vehicle and was hit by a semi-truck after trying to pull back onto the highway. The vehicles previous owner had video from his shop's cameras that showed the accident. The only reason I knew anything about my vehicle and the accident was from him... he tracked down the impounded transport vehicle and told me the jeep was ok but had some oil from the accident on it. The driver refused to answer his cell phone number... and his land line number for the business was a cell number of someone on Long Island with no affiliation to the transportation company or driver. I called ATGAT and they knew nothing about it.... no one called me to make me aware my vehicle was involved in an auto collision. They said the price was non-negotiable, and the Jeep was "fine" and still on its way and on schedule. That is all the information they would give me. As a member of the United States Army on Active Duty status, I feel they have taken lied, misled me, and hidden the truth about the accident. They are still expecting me to pay full price when I dont even know the status of the vehicle. If you are having your vehicle transported by them between VA and TX around this time.... call and Demand to know if your vehicle was involved in the accident. It seems to me running a business like this should be against the law. I plan on making an appointment with JAG attorneys this week to make sure I am not being scammed or a victim of fraud.
