Delivered for the price but delayed

This was not the experience I was hoping for when I decided to ship a car I bought from my brother instead of flying out to get it and driving it home myself. The process was new to me and when I placed the order online I was inundated with estimates - emails, texts, calls. I decided to pursue a couple companies that seem to want my business the most and settled on TD Auto Transport after looking at the reviews. Most of the initial estimates came in the $500 to $550 range but I ended paying $650.00 This was likely due to the pick up location being off a main truck line. Dominic was my main POC and he was helpful in explaining the process and I felt comfortable with it once I understood it. Pick up was uneventful, the driver was early and no issues. Then things started to go a bit askew. Delivery 4 days from pick up seem long for me but I was not in a rush but wasn't crazy about the car being on the road longer than necessary. It seem like I went into a communications blackout with both Dominic and the driver at this point. As it got to be the day before delivery I texted the driver to confirm delivery time and then he told me he was in Tampa and his truck was broke down. I was a bit surprised that I had to contact him to get that info...why was his dispatcher not contacting TD Auto and either he or TD auto contacting me? Anyway he was unsure of how long it would be and when I asked him where my car was stored he told me "in an upscale Walmart parking lot"...this is when I was no longer comfortable with the process. I told the driver I was not happy with that and he assured me that he was watching the car and wanted to deliver it soonest. After a few days of continued delays with me being the one to contact the driver I contacted Dominic at TD Auto. I have to say he went into action fast and started to work the driver for a set delivery and when that didn't happen he arranged for another driver to get it and deliver it. It took 12 days to get to me and alot of phone calls and texts. I have to give credit to TD Auto and Dominic for being persistent once I made them aware of the problem. He was very proactive in solving the problem and keeping me informed. My fault for not getting him involved earlier and also TD Auto fault for not tracking where the vehicle as far as delivery. All in all not a good experience but sometimes things can not be controlled (breakdown) and that is what compounded the situation and lead to the long delay. If communications were better between driver, broke and customer it would have alleviated most of my concerns. If I had to do it all over I would probably get it myself but if that is not possible I feel confident that a call to Dominic and he would arrange it at a fair price and would ensure I knew the status of deliver.
