I had a great overall experience with 1st Call Auto Haul. I shipped my car from CA to Ohio. Eric was pleasant to work with, and worked around my flexible and non-flexible time situations.To clarify, I was somewhat flexible for the pickup in I first contacted 1st Call online June 23. I gave a follow up call that following weekend (June 28 or 29). I told Eric that I wanted to ship my car from CA to OH. I was currently in OH, but would be visiting CA on the July 4th wknd, so would prefer that my car get picked up then while I was in CA. As it was a holiday and my car was to be transported cross-country, Eric explained and I understood it would be difficult to find a carrier for that time and for that cross-country route. My advice in this situation is to be perfectly clear in your own schedule flexibility.
Since a July 4th wknd pickup was nearly impossible, I would be out of state for the pickup. My father met with the driver Thurs morning, July 17. There was some confusion regarding the pickup place not being one of the 2 places (home and office) I designated on the online form to Eric, but again some flexibility and understanding on the customer's part is helpful. The driver, Wesley from Queen Express (thank you Wesley!) has to have a place to safely unload other cars to place my car in an order that is practical when delivering to the various states he is traveling to. Wesley picked up my car at a large shopping center parking lot about 4 miles away from my father's office and dropped him off at his office in my car. That was absolutely fine with me.
What was great was that I received my car that following Sunday afternoon, July 20! That's just 4 days later! Since Wesley picked the car up 4 miles away from our designated locations in California, I was worried that since my only means of transportation on the weekdays to meet Wesley was on my bike, that the ~4mile drop-off distance from my work would be far for me to ride in a short amount of time. Eric informed Wesley and I believe he took that into account. So, I was able to get a ride on that Sunday. My car was safe and sound, not a scratch. Wesley was very nice and professional, and used much care in tending to my car.
Overall, I am very pleased with 1st Call Auto Haul as well as Eric and Wesley. I rate an "excellent" for all the categories except "average" for hold times/promptness only because of the total time it took from the first online contact to delivery day was a bit under a month: June 23 to July 20. One other thing I should mention is that Eric had a previous carrier scheduled that was asking for an extra $50 fuel charge from me. Eric refused on my behalf, which I totally appreciate and added to the company's professionalism in my eyes.
I highly recommend 1st Call Auto Haul for their professionalism and their use of trustworthy carriers.
