I contacted SMS to ship the car from Los Angeles to Chicago and told them that I wanted to ship the car with a couple weeks. I was contacted the next day with a driver that said he could pick the car up on the exact day I needed. Which I believe was Monday June 16th. The driver kept me updated to his location and time frame of his arrival. He was able to get his large truck within three blocks of my address, which made it easy to locate and load the vehicle promptly. On the day of the pick up I experienced car trouble. My car battery had died and I couldn't start the car to load onto the truck. The driver, despite being on a tight schedule was very patient and provided me with jumper cables to restart my vehicle. Once I was able to do so, I delivered the car to the shipper who strategized with me how we would handle the car if it could not be started at the destination. Once we had established a strategy, the driver gave me an estimated date of delivery (about a week and a half). When he was close he called me about two days beforehand to give me a heads up. The day the car was delivered I was called and informed my car was safely off the bed and ready for pick up, but the car did not start. The car was unloaded in a safe location and I was able to easily have the car towed to a location where it could be fixed. My one complaint was that the Chicago delivery was further away from my home/repair address then I would have liked. If I needed to arrange transportation it would have been inconvenient and/or expensive. On previous stints with SMS, I have had the car delivered much closer if not blocks away from the stated address. All and all I was very pleased with this stint with SMS. The driver was patient, helpful and treated the car impeccably especially given the circumstances surrounding the pick up.
