TL- DR - Company allowed a driver to charge us extra money while being late to pick up and deliver and tried to extort us by holding the boat hostage.

We worked with this company to ship a 2002 Larson 274 Cabrio from Norman Lake in North Carolina to our marina here in Ruskin Florida. It seemed as though this would be a great match. They worked with us on the price and it was to be delivered next day after pick up. However once the time came to pick up the boat we made arrangements with the marina and scheduled a time, however the drivers were late and didn't arrive until 2-3 hours later than was scheduled. All should have been fine because they have two drivers in the truck and can still make the drop off time. That is until I received a text at 2:50 AM Thursday Morning. At which time the Driver Jose said that they were going to deliver at 11am if that was okay because they were stopping at their house to rest there. Now I work in the mornings and woke up two hours later and said that would be fine as I understand that sleeping in your own bed beats sleeping in the truck. We however had scheduled the delivery with the marina for 8am when they arrived at 10:45am they were upset they weren't unloaded instantly due to the machine being in use to drop another boat. The marina said it would take 1 hour for them to get the boat dropped and get them unloaded. During this time Jose contacted the broker and said he was going to ask us more money for the delay which was caused by them pushing the delivery back. The owner of the boat took offense at this because it was 1 hour they had to wait and it would be unloaded meanwhile they got there 3 hours after the original delivery time and were also at least 2 hours late on the initial pick up time. We felt as though we had been more than patient and accommodating. At this point when we argued that we wouldn't pay the extra money he was demanding he said he was going to drive out with the boat on his truck we called the police however the marina stepped in and communicated between the two parties. All the time I was in contact with the broker and he was acting as if he didn't know what was going on while he received text messages from the driver and calls from him about this. The driver showed me the texts where he told the broker and the broker responded "Do what you want I just don't want to hear them complaining lol". The driver then demanded that he be paid in cash instead of the check which we agreed upon and still demanded $100 on top of it for their "time". We eventually settled this and got the boat unloaded however we will not and would warn others away from using this company. We tried to be accommodating and understanding and were taken advantage of by both the driver and the broker who played no part in alleviating this and only allowed it to happen. As well as we never received any information in form of a bill of lading for this boat. I cannot stress how poorly this was handled. Our company buys and sells heavy equipment and deal with drivers and brokers all the time and across many states and countries. This is one of the worst experiences we have ever had.
