Long expensive process, but it made it

Viking was the first company to respond to me after I put my information into a generic towing search engine. The price they quoted me seemed very reasonable ($600) and Aaron said they would be able to get my car towed by the date I requested (about a week later.) After initially setting this up, I filled out my paperwork promptly, but did not hear from the company at all. I called about two days before the vehicle was scheduled for pick-up and they said that unfortunately they hadn't found a driver yet but they were waiting on a couple trucks driving through the area and they should be able to find something within the two-day window they that was on my contract. After not hearing from them a couple days after that, I called about every other day to see if they had found any leads, and they just said they were sorry, but not many trucks were driving through there and hopefully within the next 24-48 hours they would find something. About 5 days after the car was supposed to be picked up, one of the company's representatives suggested that I allow my towing request to be put on an open bidding board. On this board, potential towers could "bid" on how much they would be willing to tow my car for. Since it didn't seem like I had any prospects on the other boards, it was already 5 days late, and I really needed the car, I gave him the go ahead. After two days on that board, I called and they hadn't found a driver, but said they were doing all they could and would call me as soon as they heard anything. The next day, they said that someone had bid $100 more than the original quote, but my car could be picked up the following day. Since that seemed like the only option where I could receive my car in the near future, I went for it.

The operators were always very friendly and tried to be helpful, but I didn't get my car until almost two weeks after the day it was supposed to be picked up and I had to pay $100 more than they originally quoted me. They were not rude or malicious, my car did eventually get here and $700 was still a competitive price, they just were not able to get the job done on time at the rate they quoted me at.
