I’ve shipped my car earlier this year with SMS and it was a horrible experience. My car was shipped by a carrier assigned by SMS, which means they were a “broker” in my case. And all they did was to make a call to another low quality transporting company who is willing to transport my car and it would end up only around 700 dollar if I had made the call myself, so SMS made around 400 dollar just to make a call for me. They don’t even carry any responsibility for the damage for my car. In my case, the driver had cost a damage which would cost more than 1000 to repair. And I’ve contacted both SMS and the carrier to get my car repaired, and I’ve waited more than 3 months for SMS to tell me “there’s nothing we can do about it” simply because their carrier refuses to answer their call, as well as my call. I believe if you look through the review of SMS on this site, you’ll find people who have similar experiences as I do. I don’t know how cars would be shipped through their trucks, but I know they did a bad job been a broker and they worked with low quality carriers which they have no control of.

We apologize for this customer’s poor experience and understand the customer’s frustration. Unfortunately this customer had a misconception that we the broker in this particular move was responsible for said damages. Specialty Mobile is a carrier and a broker, however this particular move was brokered out to a carrier that was affiliated with us when this move was completed in August of 2006. Specialty Mobile will act as a liaison in the event of unfortunate damages to a vehicle. We provide information to the customer for the carrier as well as the carrier’s insurance information. Subsequently, at that point the issue is in the hands of the customer, the carrier and the insurance company. If the insurance company denies a claim, like what happened in this move, there is no more that we can do to assist customers. According to the insurance regulations and by the regulations of the Department of Transportation these are the stipulations that apply. Amy/Specialty Mobile
