Worked out fine

There are so many bad reviews online that I was a bit nervous about transporting my car, but Specialty seemed the most reliable of a field of unpromising choices. I would use them again if I had to move a car again, although if I could drive it myself instead, I would do that rather than go through the hassle. Although Specialty reps were always very nice on the phone, they're not the ones who actually move your car.

Specialty mobile subcontracted my car to Cars Across USA, which gave it to a guy named Florian. His english wasn't so great but could be mostly understood. The car was picked up right after it was available, with delivery estimated for 2 weeks later. I didn't hear anything until I called a couple of days before it was due to check whether it was coming. It took 2 calls (not bad) to Specialty before I heard back, but they called the trucker for me and told me it would be delivered 2 days late.

Florian called the day before and said it would be here in the afternoon, which I pretty much figured meant actually it would be evening. He also said that he had been expecting cash, not a cashier's check, and that brokers were 'good at misleading people', which didn't sound promising. I let it go because it was cashier's check or nothing, no use worrying about it -- I don't have that much money laying around.

He then called the next afternoon and said he was running late, so I said just deliver it next morning. The pickup was fine, and he said the cashiers' check was fine after all, and next time I should just call him directly and skip the broker. I don't know about that. The car was in good condition with the toolkit still in the trunk. It was just dirty (2 washes to get the salt off), and if there are a few more scratches I'm not sure since it's an older car.

We at Specialty Mobile are pleased that this customer was satisfied with the experience he had moving his vehicle. However, it is disturbing to hear the comments that came from the driver, alluding that the broker should be skipped; we are a carrier as well as a broker. Anyone can directly attempt to engage a carriers’ service. However, there are processes involved in assuring licensing, operating authority, permits and insurance coverage. Sadly, if this process is omitted, total loss of a vehicle is at risk. Amy/Specialty Mobile
