concerned about treatment of my car

Well, This was an experience. SMS had brokered the cross-country hauling of My Audi A4 to San Francisco from Atlanta with a local Atlanta carrier, Express Auto. Communication with them was difficult, as I had received a window for pickup, but was notified that the driver was running behind for 2 days in a row-excuses: computer broken, GPS not working, late start, etc. Finally, he did show up about 7 PM in the dark, and wanted to load the car on busy Peachtree Street during rush hour- not smart and kinda dangerous. Additionally, I was surprised that a local outfit did not know their way around the city, because their GPS was broken- local drivers should be familiar with local landmarks, highways, and main thouroughfares, especially if they are based out of that major metroplotan area- so my confidence wavered with the driver. When he did show up, I was most disappointed in his treatment of the clutch on my car. He had to rev the engine higher than he should, and slipped the clutch so much on getting my car up the trailer that smoke was coming out from under the hood, and the familiar burnt clutch smell. I'm not saying that my car is a precise driving instrument or anything, but the driver should be aware of features like traction control if he needed extra torque or wheelspin to get up the ramp, otherwise the traction control was working to keep the wheels from slipping while the clutch was taking all the wear- I thought I was in good hands when I saw there was a Rolls Royce on the carrier as well. I made sure to let the driver know that I was not pleased with him smoking my clutch. So, 2 weeks later, I got a call the night before my car was to arrive, and it did right on time and was carefully and properly taken off the trailer, so I guess in the end it was OK. If my clutch fails in a month, then I'll know why.
