Contacted Silva to ship my motorcycle from Wyoming to Washington. They quoted me a price of $500 which is pretty good. I asked what kind of time frame I would be looking at for delivery. The woman I spoke to said "It takes between 1-7 days to schedule pickup, then another 3-4 days for delivery." Sounds good. I fax them my order with my $200 deposit and as far as I can tell, they haven't done jack since then. I've called once a day just to see if they bike has been scheduled for pickup and keep getting the same old answer, "No, not yet." I need this bike delivered by the first week of August and went with Silva because of the delivery time they quoted me. On day 7 when I called and got the same answer I said, "So basically, you have no idea when this will be picked up, do you?" Instead of being straight up and saying "no", I kept gettting this runaround about waiting for drivers to call back, etc. OK, I understand the broker business can be tricky, but don't tell me you can deliver when you can't. Now the woman at Silva is telling me that she told me she "estimated" that the pickup would be between 1-7 days. NO, she did not, because if she had said "estimate" for a pickup time, I would have went with someone else...anything to get that dollar, eh, Silva? No harm, no foul, just pick another carrier, right? Hold on there, big fella, you can't even get all your money back for the deposit. They keep $100 for "administration fees." "What administration fee?" I asked. "Well, for running the office, making phone calls and sending emails and faxes..." Be advised she was getting quite the 'tude at this point in the conversation. Don't even try to tell me you've made $100 worth of phone calls and faxes (and email is free) in an effort to get my bike picked up.

I don't have any major gripes with anyone at Silva, and I don't think they're bad people or anything of the sort. I just don't think they're very good brokers and don't have quite the extensive amount of contacts that are needed in this business. I'm assuming I'll have my bike sometime within the next month or so...hey, if it doesn't get scheduled for pickup in 30 days I get 95% of my money back; they keep ten bucks for some reason.
