I used Ship A Car Direct for having a Cutlass shipped from Phoenix area to Charlotte NC area. Overall I am pleased with the service, but learned a few good lessons in the process. 1. SaCD is simply a broker like the majority of people who offer this type service. They do not own the carrier but place your vehicle on a logistics network for bid. They coordinate the logistics for getting a carrier assigned and oversight of shipping. They have limited liability for the service and in reality rely heavily on the carrier to do a good job. Your quote is really an estimate of what they anticipate the carrier is willing to be paid plus a processing fee for SaCD services. I suspect it never gets reduced, but could go higher if they don't get bids to align to your estimate. 2. You are responsible for ensuring the carrier selected (or who bid) for your project is what you expect and that they do the move in a quality manner. If for any reason the vehicle is damaged you have to coordinate with the carriers insurance company for resolution. SaCD is only on the hook for $500. 3. Read the T&C's to gain the best understanding of the program. We had a few challenges with the carrier, but in the end the car was delivered on time and in good shape. SaCD maintained good communications throughout.
