Undifferentiated

First time shipping a car, and what I've learned is that these services are essentially undifferentiated. The "quote" they give you is meaningless; they won't actually quote the job until a few days prior to your first pick-up date, and they all use the same bidding service to submit your details to drivers. I got quotes from 3-4 places, and these guys were significantly lower than anyone else - don't be fooled, the actual price came out almost exactly to what the other 3 companies had quoted. While they do send you a lot of automated form emails that contain some useful info and their app is good, once they place your order you're essentially dealing with the driver and their dispatcher directly, While I had requested a top load, the carrier I actually got was a flatbed holding 3 cars pulled by an F350. The trailer apparently had an issue after my car was picked up which delayed delivery by a day. Ship-a-Car has no visibility to any of this, so you will get all of that issue from the driver and/or their "dispatcher," who in my case barely spoke English. Driver was a good guy and reasonably accommodating, though. Most of the carriers seem to be 1 truck operations. Car arrived in good condition but crusted with bugs - it being summer and all. The top load would have helped, but consider an enclosed truck if that's something you're concerned about.
