I used Ship-A-Car direct to ship my car from California to Ohio. I requested a specific pickup and delivered window about 1 month in advance, and received a quote. Thankfully there was no upfront deposit (I learned you should never pay for one). The quote was about $300 higher than the cheapest quote I got, but now I know the cheapest quotes are from bad companies. To actually get the job done, I believe Ship A Car has a good understanding of the loadboard system and competitive bidding prices that drivers will take. My information was on the load board for 2-3 weeks with no interested drivers. About 3 days before the end of my desired pickup window, I called Ship A Car and they were able to raise my bidding price. Immediately, within a few hours, a driver said he was interested. However, it was past my original pickup window which I received the quote for. I had ask a close friend to take my car and arranged the new pickup person, contact info, and address with Ship A Car. One day before the new pickup date, the driver said he was delayed and would pick it up the next day. This was sketchy to me and upset me because this was already 2 days past the end of my original pickup window. However, I understand this is outside of Ship A Car's control. They are only the 3rd party broker that deals with the actual drivers, who are NOT employed by Ship A Car. Many poor reviews should be properly attributed to those driver companies, not 3rd parties like Ship A Car. Anyway my car was delivered in 6 days which is great. I've heard horror stories of cars being missing, delivered many weeks late, etc. So although my car shipping did not occur on the ideal dates I specified, it was close enough. Ship A Car charged a minimal fee for their service, and were extremely responsive to both phone calls and texts. Shipping a car cross-country, no matter what, is going to be a stressful task. This whole ordeal took over 2 months to complete, from researching companies to final payment and delivery. However, I trust Ship A Car over other companies for this task. My only concern is that I had to call them to ask them to raise the bidding price. They should have been carefully monitoring my car's bidding status and used their expertise to raise it on their own. Had I not called them to raise the price, my car may still be in California.
