First pick up scheduled July 21 with Bama Carriers. He broke down & wasn't able to pick up. Waited a week & was notified on July 27 that a 2nd carrier Dogsled Transportation had been dispatched & scheduled for pick up on SAME DAY. Unfortunately that carrier wanted to pick up within 1 hour of me being notified, and nobody was available to meet the driver with such short notice due to work commitments. Driver didn't want to wait so he cancelled the pick up.
Waited another week & finally a local SC carrier Jackson Trucking was dispatched and scheduled for August 3rd. The driver picked up on time but didn't actually leave SC until August 4th. I called the driver in the late afternoon on Aug 4th. He was a couple of hrs out and said he doesn't drive at night, so delivery would be in the morning of August 5th.
He called at 7:30am, he was 30 mins out. I met him 1/2 mile down the road so he could avoid the cul de sac and narrow streets. He was also transporting 2 other cars so we waited while he backed 1 of the cars off the truck. He was an older gentleman, very careful, professional & courteous. We had no issues with the car. We paid him $300. So total cost from SC to TN was $525.
I had no issues with Ship-A-car. I was in contact with Scott. He explained everything clearly & I understood the reason for the delays. Communication was via txt and email. Scott was friendly & professional. I believe courtesy goes both ways, so if you holler & scream when things don't go as scheduled, then you will only be adding to the problem.
Overall it wasn't a bad experience and I expected that there may or may not be delays, so I had a back up plan. I wasn't in a hurry to receive the car at the other end, it was the scheduling pick up where I got delayed.
I think some people think that scheduling a vehicle pick up is like booking a taxi. Unfortunately it's not always that simple, and not all drivers can be in your city on the day/time you scheduled for pick up or drop off. So my advice would be to have a Plan B, in case your pick up or drop off date/time is delayed. Be patient. And be courteous. I would use Ship-A-Car again. Total delay from original pick up was 2 weeks. With 3 attempts.
