Better Live in a City or Don't Expect Pick-up

I contacted them a month before my move. Two days before pick-up date, they could not get a carrier to come to my suburb, an hour north of Tampa. They expected me to drive to a "population center" to deliver the car for transport. I do not live in the woods. This last-minute let-down is unacceptable when you are already super-stressed trying to pack and move.

Sorry we weren't able to confirm your pick-up in advance. Unfortunately this industry does not have advance time-tables or reservations like other services do, no matter how far in advance you place your order. As strange as it sounds, actual confirmation is usually locked down within a day of pick-up and within a day or two of your preferred date from the trucks available in your pick-up city. We understand that it is nerve-wracking, and we can recommend other troubleshooting options (like meeting in a larger city, depending on your location). But the reality is that availability only opens within a day or two of pick-up, and there are more options in larger cities. It's best to have a day or two of wiggle room around your preferred pick-up date, or a friend as a back-up contact, or be willing to meet in a major hub if there isn't a truck in your area on your exact day. It sounds like your rep wasn't able to communicate that effectively - so sorry about that.
