Typically when you have a car shipped the company you work with actually arranges for a carrier to get your car. The quote they give you is a combination of the cost of the carrier and the service fee. In the case of every other company that sent me an electronic quote, the total fee they quoted online was tantalizingly low but immediately revised up when I called.

Ship a Car Direct was the only company that stuck with its quote. Indeed, when they realized the cost of the carrier would be higher than they'd expected, they actually paid the difference out of their own service fee to keep my cost equal to the number they quoted. (As it turns out, though I needed only an open carrier, the only carrier available was closed, meaning that my dilapidated 2001 Accord got the kind of protection usually reserved for a Ferrari).

Their dispatch team sent many emails letting me know whom to contact if any problems arose. None did so I never had to contact them, but it was comforting to people were on call to help me. The car arrived on the early side of the range of delivery dates they promised, which was fantastic.

I should mention- -the company offers a rebate for people who post reviews (which is why I've marked I was given an incentive to write the review), but the company made no attempt to influence what I've written. In my case they really didn't have to...
