Offered $30 for writing a review

At the outset let me say that my evaluations refer to Ship a Car Direct not the carrier. Ship a Car was always courteous, and the car was delivered in good (if not clean) condition. What was really off-putting, however, was that the agreed upon price included a $30 rebate. When I requested the rebate after delivery, however, it turned out that the $30 was contingent on my writing this review! Ship-a-Car Direct did present the matter less crassly - I was being paid "for my time," not the review itself. Any way you slice, it however, this is pretty shabby. Based on my experience I would be distrustful of other reviews, which may well have been contaminated by the same offer. I doubt that I will get my $30 after saying this, but the money isn't worth prevaricating.

My understanding is that the entire business of auto transport is badly in need of regulation and transparency. As it stands brokers are over compensated relative to carriers (they pocket roughly1/3d of the price and take no responsibility for safe delivery). You are best off working directly with carrier-drivers if you possibly can and bypassing the brokers.
