This is a positive review for David Johnson. I needed to ship my daughter's car home from college. David was one of dozens who responded to my request for quotes. It took me a while to figure out how this market works, that all the brokers search Central Dispatch to find drivers. The hired broker will find a driver and add a broker fee on top (somewhere around $100). The broker can negotiate on your behalf with the driver, to get the price down. They also can use their expertise to place the bid price and decide when it's time to settle. I went with David because I realized that his quote was reasonable. The quotes that everyone gives at first are completely non-binding. Many others give unrealistic low quotes to win your patronage. David's was realistic. His quote accounted for a realistic estimate of the driver's fee and his own fee. The price ended up being higher than quoted, due to the randomness of the process, but he sincerely tried to reduce the price as much as possible. In fact, he and I agreed to a fee structure that would pay him more if he got my price lower, so we both had the same incentive. I appreciate that David got the job done at a reasonable price. He was well aware of the market and how much time we had to comfortably schedule the shipment without need to worry (less than a week out is okay). His broker fee was pretty low compared to others. He also followed up several times to make sure the shipment went smoothly. He was overall courteous and pleasant to work with.
