To start out our son moving to Michigan from Oregon. I put my email into a transportation carrier website. Many, and I do mean many sent quotes. After seeing all the different prices for the exact same route I wondered what the difference was with carriers. So here we go… The move was from Oregon to Michigan. The first prices we got were around $750. Hmm. I thought not bad. Then got a few quotes for $1400, $1300, $1200 and so on. The cheapest was around $700, the most expensive being around $1600. The thought was what is the big difference?. It took about 3 weeks of really digging into this to really understand what the answer is. All the transport companies are brokers. They quote you a super low price to bait you in. Most cheap quotes come with hidden fees that the actual transporter will add into the devil detail small print on the contract you sign. They put your transport move on a big board with the hopes that a driver will bid on it. I read so many horror stories about the $700 move costing 1700, and waiting 3 weeks for a vehicle that may or may not even get picked up. About 95% of the cheap companies won’t ever even move your vehicle. The reason is that the broker nodded too low to begin with and no one picked it up off the job board. But since you have a contract, they will make up an excuse like an accident or weather so that they don’t violate the contract, and most people will just say forget it and go with another carrier. The problem is though, is now you’re looking for a carrier with hardly any notice and you will pay up the ying Yang for it. Your vehicle is your life and the world is a crazy place, so we didn’t want to just go with anyone and never see the vehicle again. I called SGT Transport. They gave us a fair quote. They even beat a competitor quote by about $100. I finally was ready to commit. We got a hold of them on a Thursday and signed the contract. . They said they will need 1-3 business days to pick up the vehicle. We signed the contract and put a down payment of around $230 on a $1250 move. The carrier picked up the car on Friday night. The people at SGT answered all my questions before during and after signing the contract. They always answered the phone. There were no hidden fees or monkey business. They did exactly what they said they were going to do. They said to allow 7-10 business days for the drop off. The car made it to our front door on Thursday. 6 total days later. They were professional and kept in contact the closer they got. The driver gave us a link to track the vehicle every step of the way. Since this was the first time we ever used a service like this we were pleasantly surprised and could not be happier. He unloaded the vehicle and we gave him the remainder of the money in cash at our door. If you are looking to move your vehicle we would strongly recommend SGT transport.
