Customer service was inadequate and rude.

My customer service rep was available on my first phone call and gave a quote of $725. When I called back to ask questions and place the order. He was quite rushed and asked me to call him back in 30 minutes. When I did, he couldn't remember why he had asked me to call. I proceeded to try to ask questions about the service and place the order. Again, he tried to beg off the call because he was so busy. We finally placed the order with an estimated pick up date of 12/7. On the 7th I called to see if there was to be a pick up. He said that while he might have found a driver, the driver in question was asking for $50 more. When I objected to this, he informed me that I should never go with the lowest bidder! I reminded him that it was HE who gave me the quote and asked was his quote not a valid one. I should have run at that point but in an effort to get this car shipped to my daughter, I told him to give the driver another $75. He called me back to say that the driver had accepted and the new estimated pick up date was 12/10. When I asked for details about the trucking company being used, insurance coverage and putting these specifics on the Shipper Invoice (the one I had received was largely blank). He said "you are way too worried about this and I don't have time to stay on the phone with you until you feel better" Luckily, before he hung up, he told me that the shipper was US Camels Transportation. With this, I was able to verify some facts about the trucker. I stayed home from work for most of the day on 12/10 not knowing how much notice I would receive before the driver came. I didn't receive a call from the truck driver nor from my rep. I sent the rep an email in the evening to notify him and to ask if there was a second estimated pickup date. I did not get a response. At 2pm on 12/11, I got a call from the driver. He alleged that he had tried to call me earlier in the day (still one day after the estimated pick up date) but that his paperwork was incomplete....it didn't have my phone number! He said that he had tried repeatedly to call Nationwide but had difficulty getting a call back. After that call, the driver kept in excellent touch with me and with my daughter. Though he tended to be a bit behind schedule, we are happy with his service. Nationwide claims that "we will do anything to make sure that it is a pleasant experience." In my case, the customer service I received did much to make this markedly more unpleasant than it had to be!
