We needed to ship our car from Seattle area to Suffolk county, NY. As did most people, I filled a few online forms to get quotes, and spoke with a few brokers. But our travel plan was uncertain (and was finally decided until about 10 days before our actual departure). Among many brokers I spoke to was Jim from Mercury Auto Transport, whom I contacted about a week before we had to fly. He explained the whole procedure clearly and understood our situation. He suggested we found a friend to leave our car with so that even if we had to depart early our car could be picked up and if we had a flexible delivery window the price could be negotiated better. But ideally it would be better to see our car uploaded to the shipping truck. We could live without our car a few days longer. It was then only a few days before the Labor Day long weekend.

The next day after we spoke, Jim told me that he had found a couple of carriers willing to ship our car but they asked for a price which he thought was a couple of hundred bucks higher than he (and we as well) had hoped. Jim said he would try to negotiate the price and keep finding others at the same time and would let us know the day after Labor Day. Of course, we were anxious. But on the Tuesday early morning, we got an email and a call from Jim. To our relief, he had found three carriers willing to ship our car, including one that could pick up the car on that same day. He gave us the contact numbers of the shipping company and the driver and told us to wait for their call. I, of course, would not want to wait for too long and called the truck company as soon as they opened their business that day (9/6). We scheduled and met with the driver at a mall near the airport in the afternoon, which suited us well, as our flight was in the evening. The driver showed up on time with his pickup truck and a trailer to load our car. Seeing us carrying two large luggage, he nicely offered to give us a lift to the airport! (The driver told us that our car would then be loaded to a large open carrier and would depart on 9/9.)

During the whole process, Jim had been keeping us informed and double-checked with us to make sure everything was ok. About a week after our car was picked up, he asked us whether the driver had contacted us for delivery and soon we got a call from the driver and the next day (9/14) the car was delivered. Our car was in the same condition as when it was loaded, except that it had accumulated some dust along its journey.

Luckily for us, the whole process went smoothly. As for the expense: we were collected a deposit ($160) by credit card only after Jim had found the carriers and we agreed on using one of them. We paid the remaining shipping expense ($820) to the driver after the delivery. All in all, from this experience, I highly recommend Jim Gozde of Mercury Auto Transport. He found a good carrier (Rapid Transport LLC) for us and our car was picked up and shipped to us in a timely fashion. The drivers involved were also very professional. We were also thankful to the driver who gave us a ride.
