Michelle H. was my agent at Magic Carpet, the broker who found a carrier (Ultra Power Trans) to transport my car. I paid $250 to Magic Carpet and $800 to UPT for this service. I am supposed to receive a rebate of $50 from Magic Carpet for writing an evaluation. The good news is that my car was delivered to DC without any apparent damage. I am giving Michelle three stars for the following reasons:

a. UPT informed me on Wednesday that the car would be delivered one day early, on Thursday. The early delivery of the car, contrary to my exact orders to Michelle because I would not arrive in DC until Friday, meant that I was required to now prepay the full amount before UPT would deliver the car to me. UPT suggested I pay Magic Carpet by credit card. Michelle informed me that it is standard Magic Carpet policy to charge an additional 3% fee for paying with a credit card. I explained to Michelle that my original order was to have the car delivered on Friday or later, and that since the car is now being delivered contrary to my order, I should not be further penalized by paying an additional 3%. At this point, I felt that Michelle became very rude to me and used a strong, firm tone of voice to suggest that I basically have no choice: either I pay 3% or the delivery might be delayed. After this horrible conversation with Michelle, I managed to negotiate with UPT on my own, without Michelle’s assistance, the full and timely payment, without a 3% surcharge. My contact at UPT, Emmanuel, was very professional and kept me updated on the time of delivery throughout the process.

b. The following Monday, I followed up with a phone call with Michelle. She asked if she would receive a 5-star evaluation from me. When I said no, which I felt was my prerogative as a customer, she raised her voice and said that my not giving her 5 stars was in fact "dinging" her and that it did not reflect that she had worked hard to find the shipper for me on time. While I truly appreciate Michelle’s efforts in locating UPT, I explained that I did not feel that I have received good service from her. Michelle retorted, again with a loud, angry voice, that “dinging” her with a less than 5-star rating was unfair given that she had worked so hard on my order.

That Michelle would get upset and raised her voice with me on not one but two occasions, when I am the customer, is precisely why I think she does not deserve 5-stars for customer service.

Will I still get my $50 rebate after writing this honest evaluation? Only time will tell.

Felix, I am sorry you feel you could not give me a five star review. I am glad that the goal was accomplished and you got your car. I am also glad the carrier worked with you so nicely and accommodated your needs so well. Michelle
