Will not use for future transports

After having received quotes from over 10 different transport companies ranging from $776 to $1045, I contacted Magic Carpet Transport on April 28th about moving a Barracuda from Fresno California to Port Huron Michigan (just outside Detroit). I based my decision on their reviews here, not price. I stated that delivery any time by May 18th would be fine, figuring that it was ample time for a pickup. Especially since their quote was at the upper end of those I received.
My contact was very nice, seemed knowledgeable, and never hinted that there could be any problems. After a couple emails sent to them the day after I committed that were never answered, I was a extremely disappointed that over the next few weeks I was never once contacted about the status of my transport unless I made a phone call to them. When I did call I was given the statement "they were working on it". After my third call in two weeks I informed them that the seller of the car was getting frustrated with the car still sitting in his way at his place of business and considering backing out of sale, I received same response.
Now today is May 17th , almost three weeks after hiring Magic Carpet, and I receive a phone call telling me that they finally have a driver set up to pick up the car on the 19th (a day after the deadline I stated for delivery), but that I will have to pay an additional $200 to make it happen!
During my research getting quotes, several companies gave me expidited 48hr pickup guarantees for about the same or less than Magic Carpet wanted now after I have waited three weeks.
I have now cancelled my deal with Magic Carpet, and am hiring another company that is guaranteeing my pickup in 48hr for slightly less or I will pay $245 less (at this point timeframe wanted has been missed so to frustarted to care anymore). I am not saving any money, have lost time and possibly more to come, but I will not deal with Magic Carpet now on principal. They had one of the highest quotes, had more than ample time, I made the job as easy as I could for them, and they still managed to not complete the job they were hired to do at the agreed upon price.
Very disappointed, and very leary now of reviews given with compensation involved.
