High expectations, average results. This was my first time trying to ship a vehicle by commercial autohauler via a broker. Probably my last too.

I made my decision to go with Magic Carpet based on reviews from Transport Reviews. What I learned along the way is that these organizations are just brokers and they all do pretty much the same thing: put your vehicle on a “central dispatch” and wait for a autohauler to pick it off the list if he decides that he can do it profitably and it fits his hauling schedule. My vehicle was on the “central dispatch” for a month. I had no regular communication from Magic Carpet after it was listed. After two weeks, I started calling them at weekly intervals for scheduling updates. Their response was typically “it’s not a popular route and we’re having trouble getting an autohauler.” I even initiated a potential delivery shift to what I though was a more favorable route to the autohauler (but not to me) to make it happen. Nothing.

Finally, I got an email one month after the contract was let informing me that a commercial carrier was picking up the vehicle for transport. The actual autohauler and I personally kept in touch during the duration of the transport from Michigan to Utah.

In the future, I would bypass the broker / middlemen and deal directly with a commercial autohauler (if you can identify / find one.)

Ron, I apologize that your experience didnt go well. However, i do remember speaking with you prior to placing the order and i did let you know that Michigan to Utah was going to be a hard route to schedule within our average 1-7days due to the fact that it was not a caommon run and not many carriers do this run. So i did let you know sometimes it does take longer. it could a couple weeks to schedule the carrier, however, it did take a little longer than that to schedule. Also ron, i do remember before you did use our company you were currently posted with another company and they were having the same issue. I did also let you know this is why they were having this problem was because the route was difficult. I do apologize that this did take a while to get transported, however i am happy that you were able to recieve your vehicle as well. Hope next time it is a more pleasant experience. Thank you!
