I did the research and read these reviews and decided on Magic Carpet Auto. We talked and I gave them my credit card. I was told 1 to 7 days, but usually 4 out of Phoenix. I started calling after 4 days. I never received a call back, or an E-Mail. I would talk to someone and they said my rep would call me back. I never received a call. I finally talked to them today, 8 days after I started. They first start by saying that my destination may be a problem. 30 miles west of Chicago Illinois. I never thought of Chicago as being rural, but what do I know ?. She then checks and says that there is a backup of cars now in Phoenix, there was not when I started this endeavor. They now say that I need to pay more money because of the backup. When you start the bidding process for this, you get about 15 companies all sending you bids, and listing the issues you are going to have with the “Other competitors”. I actually called Magic Carpet Auto, and they said that they are aware of the list, and they the biggest and the best. The process they went through is like reading the script from the warning list. The only option they gave me to solve the problem was to pay more money !. They restated the agreement many times during this last conversation, I have been in these situations before, when they start quoting that “This is an estimate”, and the actual charges may be different. They told me that I am unreasonable and that I have not given them any options. What they fail to understand is that 8 days ago, I could have used a company that does not play the ‘Get you locked in, and then squeeze you for more” game, I am now 8 days behind, in a market that is now more expensive, and I will have to supply a rental car longer than I expected. Customer service is everything, a simple call or E-Mail letting me know that price is increasing, Queue is building up, we have not received a “Bite” yet, would have been much better than nothing at all. The customer service rep had just looked at the info today when I called, 8 days later, that can be the only excuse for not keeping me informed. It looks like they have had good reviews from other people, but how a company responds to adverse issues is the true mark of a good company.

Barry, we are very sorry that you are upset with the process of vehicle transport. We as a broker make contact with the carriers to find out the estimated time frame to complete the transport of your vehicle. BUT, sometimes it takes a little longer than we ESTIMATE. As summer creeps on us all, the amount of available freight doubles and even triples in volume within DAYS which can cause delays in the pick up of a vehicle. Of course WE or ANYONE ELSE in the industry have no control over this. The time frames we give are estimates for a reason. If you get stuck in traffic because of an accident you have no control on the time frame the DOT WILL CLEAR THE ROAD! We wish you well and the safe arrival of your vehicle.~Nicole Hancock~ General Manager
