Unfortunately, despite some positive reviews on this company, I was very disappointed with the transport.
I ordered door-to-door pickup and delivery from Berkeley, CA to downtown Philadelphia. I am a new father and my wife and I are relocating to Philadelphia with a 6 month old.
Here are the problems and inconveniences I experienced:
1. The driver was hard to understand and wanted to pick up a day early, but very very late at night (10PM). The driver could not reach my house and wanted me to drive the car to San Francisco or some other meeting point where his carrier was parked.
Resolution: I had to arrange to drop off the car the next morning (6AM) with the driver, and we together found a location closer to my house. I drove the car myself to this place, and wife had to follow me with our newborn baby so I could get back home.
2. After pickup, Magic Carpet Auto Transport called me saying they never received payment information for the deposit. Actually, they already debited my checking account (using a "telecheck") for 20% of the price ($210).
Resolution: I pointed this out and the agent realized the records error was on their end. Thanks for wasting 20 min of my time at work!
2. The car arrived to Philadelphia earlier than expected (no complains here) but the driver also wanted me to come get the car at his yard. I told him I could not do that, so he did comply with dropping the car off to my new residence.
However, I was not informed clearly by Stephanie how I would make final payment. Only CASH or MONEY ORDER is accepted by the truck driver.
Resolution: The driver had to drive me to a local bank for me to retrieve the funds in cash so he could receive payment.
What did I learn? AVOID MAGIC AUTO CARPET TRANSPORT AT ALL COSTS!!!! YOU DO ALL THE WORK. THEY GET PAID FOR NOTHING.
