figuring out this business

So when I received a quote I thought I would go with the best quote that had the best rating. I also thought that the quote given would be the cost charged. What I didn't understand is how the business works. What the transport company does is submits their quote with your pick up and drop of location on some sort of a master dispatch board that the different carriers can look at and take the job. Well my quote was originally for approximately $850. So I guess my pick up/drop off city and the amount were posted. Then we waited for a carrier to pick it up. Well, after 4 days, no one picked it up, so I was told I had to up the ante in order to get a driver to accept the job. Long story short, I had to increase my bid by $300 over the original quote to get a driver to pick up my car. The whole process was extremely frustrating. Then, the driver was supposed to deliver the car on Wednesday but it didn't actually arrive until Saturday. When it did arrive I was a little disheartened by my new vehicle because it was filthy dirty on the outside. The driver said he didn't have time to wash it or couldn't find a car wash, even though one was located directly across the street. The girl at the transport company was very friendly and helpful and talked me through the entire process but I wish they would have been more upfront about it when giving me the initial bid. Not her fault, she was great. All in all it was a less than desirable experience.

Hi Kristi, You are correct, the industry can be complicated as the quote is not an exact science. Your route was a very tough one, and your vehicle was the only one waiting for a transport along that route. When this happens, there is no choice than to offer more money in order for the carrier to go out of his way to take the job. I do my very best to educate first time customers as to what they may expect before placing an order. The driver had a mechanical issue that couldn't be helped, so it did create a delay as well, which was unfortunate. I do also want to thank you for the compliment regarding my customer service. It is appreciated. sue@magiccarpetautotransport.com 503-882-4996
