I called this company and explained that my son was returning from Irag and my husband and I were flying from Florida to California to meet him. He had just purchased an ATV in Florida and I needed it shipped to California and it needed to arrive there before my son returned. My husband and I were going to rent ATV's, and the three of us were going to go riding in the desert and on the sand dunes while we were out there.

Although their standard contract gave a date that was after that time, I was repeatedly assured verbally that it would arrive there in the time period I was requesting. My first mistake was believing that they would make good on their verbal promises. As the time got nearer and the ATV had not been picked up, I was again assured that it would get there in time. I was told it would be picked up and would get from Florid to California in 7 days or less. However, when the truck came to pick it up, the driver told me he was going to take it to Orlando where it would be picked up by another trucker when one was available. This was 6 days before I needed it to be in California. I refused to let the trucker take the ATV because it was obvious it would not get there in time.

Before I refused to let them take it, I talked to my contact at Interstate and they told me that they would refund all of my money because they had screwed up. My second mistake was believing this guy!

I called a local trucking company and they came that afternoon and picked up the ATV and had it in California in 3 days -- in time for my son's return from Iraq.

However, Interstate now refused to refund my deposit. Julia told me the people I spoke to were not authorized to tell me it would arrive on those dates or to tell me they would refund my money. OK - so how are you supposed to make educated decisions if you can't take the word of the employees representing the company? I argued with them for a very long time and got them to refund $120 of the $400 deposit, but I am still out $280.

Stay away from this company -- they will tell you whatever you want to hear to get your business. If you deal with them, get very specific information in writing.
