The trucking industry can be dicey at times. I will admit that I was nervous from start to finish during the entire process. This was my first time shipping a vehicle for any reason. Hilton (Nicole) was very courteous. I only spoke with her twice during the entire process. She called me back within one hour of my first call to her to say there was a truck waiting in Denver to haul a car to the Southeast. This was Access Transport based in Atlanta, GA. The seller of the vehicle lived just outside Denver and took pictures of the vehicle being loaded onto the carrier. It was an enclosed trailer. I was happy to find this out, as I had reserved for a standard open-air carrier. I was not charged extra. Supposedly there was furniture loaded on the front of this trailer too. This struck me as odd. But it was a true car-carrier trailer. They just happened to be hauling furniture in the nose. My car was at the back, and was the only vehicle onboard. They left that day, and were supposedly in Nashville,TN the following noon. When I contacted Access, the dispatch stated they were three hours away!!! After 3 hours nothing: Hmmm. Called; was greeted by "hello?" He did not identify himself. Okay, whatever... But this still made me somewhat nervous. Stated drivers had to rest due to regulations. This is true. Drivers have to keep logs of driving time and down time. Okay, they would be there by 7:00PM. Great. Wait until 7: no call. I contact Access: answer: loud reggae music, then: "hello?" in thick Jamaican accent. I have no problem with that; I was once in a reggae band, but still... I got a call from the driver asking directions; directions given. He did not say how far out he was at the time (at 10PM) even though I asked. I wind up getting a call from the driver finally at 2AM to come pick the car up at a nearby parking lot. I felt like maybe the police are watching and rubbing their hands together. It all felt so surreal. The drivers were also Jamaican. They were very friendly, careful, and professional. They had a check-list and pointed out all of the areas they had found to be "less-than-perfect;" which I had totally expected. I signed on the line, gave them cash (yes, they requested cash), they then saddled up and headed to Atlanta that night to deliver the furniture. I had expected to wait a good week or two to get my car, but it was there in a day-and-one-half... I guess the stars were aligned on this one. I don't know whether you should expect the same for your own experience. I do not expect to have to do this again; unless I win the lottery. Good luck.
