After posting my need to move a pickup from california to arkansas i was bombarded by emails and telephone calls. prices for the move ranged from $600 to $1200 and everybody had a truck in california that was headed this way. global express was one of the $600 bids and i chose them. first off they charged my credit card before lining up a carrier which most carriers say they won't charge until they are ready to pickup. the next call i got was to pitch a carrier ready to pick up the truck but the cost was $800. i told andrew in no uncertain terms to not call me with anything except the agreed upon price. we had several conversations in the ensuing week and he kept reassuring me that if i was patient (which i was) he would get it delivered for that price. after ten days of this conversation, andrew called to say he had a carrier but it would be $700. we agreed that he would credit $50 of his original $150 deposit to bring the cost down to $650 and i would accept this. during the ten days i called some of the other low bidders and none of them could match their bids (the prices were only good when they were good?) so sure enough, the carrier which happened to be based in arkansas picked up the vehicle when they said they would and delivered when they said they would and in the condition that it was picked up.
At this point, my $50 credit had not yet been issued. later i was told that robert, the boss would send me a check rather than credit my card. robert explained to me that this saved the credit card fee. needless to say this went through several calls and the check is in the mail. i got to know robert very well and made sure he understood that i would give global a good review when i received the check and a bad one if i didn't receive the check. well i never received the check and had to use visa to dispute the cahrge and get my money. thank goodness i had an email from william agreeing to refund the money which visa used to recover the $50.
bottom line on global express is they performed the service but then tried to stiff me for $50. how much sense does that make. i place the blame on robert and not on william.
