AVOID AT ALL COSTS- Seemingly not truthful and terrible performance

I suspect our mistake was to go with one of the providers on the lower end of the price spectrum. They quoted $775, and while a few others were lower, most were higher. You get what you pay for. We ended up firing these guys and we're working to get our deposit back. What troubled me the most- and what caused us to fire them- was that they weren't straight with us. They said the car would likely be picked up on a Saturday, but it wasn't (which was actually ok, since that might have been tight for us too). So one change in what they said was fine. Then it was for sure on Monday. Monday arrived and there was a "problem with the truck." I asked to speak with the manager, and they said that was a guy named George. He was going to call me within the hour. Three of my calls later, we finally track down George several hours later. Those three calls (and literally every call to Dispatch) were dealt with by a curt woman who constantly put me on hold. When I finally spoke with George, he assured me that they had identified a specific truck and driver, and that the car would be picked up between 4 pm and 8 pm on Tuesday. Tuesday morning arrives, and a competitor of theirs calls me. I tell him Global is picking up the car between 4 pm and 8 pm. He tells me that's not true, based on what is apparently a universal database all these folks use. I call Global immediately (still Tuesday morning), and they tell me they've had another problem with a truck, and the car wouldn't be picked up on Tuesday, and now they couldn't tell me when it would be. And I have little doubt that had I not called, Tuesday would have come and gone with no word from them telling me that they were yet again not going to be able to deliver.

Bottom line: I believe they lied to me twice, and that's simply not acceptable. It was less about the actual end result and more about their business ethics and their customer service. They're hard to reach, short on the phone, don't return calls when they say they will, and ultimately could not deliver what they said they were going to do. Avoid these guys.

Follow-up as of September 21, 2010: As further support for this post and the others like it, shortly after I had posted it, the nice folks at Transportreviews.com contacted me and said that they had to temporarily remove my review, because Global Express said I wasn't a customer. I went through TR's process and proved that I was a customer by showing them a copy of my VISA statement with the Global Express charge on it, and they reposted the review. But once again Global Express blatantly lied by saying I was not a customer, this time so they could avoid having this review posted. These are folks with some pretty poor business ethics. Use them at your own risk. Finally, as an aside, I switched to Fast Auto Movers, and they did an awesome job. Everything happened just as they said it would, and they took the time to explain the process to me in great depth. I'd highly recommend them (and will through a review of them directly).
