I used Freightcenter to ship a small block chevy longblock and got hammered in a 297. dollar penalty. I asked Freightcenter to use a 700 pound weight for the engine and crate and they talked me into going to 600 pounds and said if it was different they would work with me and adjust the bill. A cast iron head chevy is 550 pounds, the aluminum heads take about 45 pounds off of that. The crate with a sheet of waferbord plywood and a pallet weighs 300 pounds by their billing! I was charged 3 fees because the truck company SAIA did not want to use somebody else's Bill Of Laden. Freightcenter blackmailed me by claiming I would have to pay SAIA a non member rate of 1342. dollars or pay the extra 297. dollars. This is wrong and ANYBODY that thinks that I am the exception, just read their reviews. I wish I had!
