Pretty good experience, first time transporting car

After reading reviews on this website and some of the horror stories that people told, I was more than anxious about transporting my car from east coast to west coast (Atlanta, GA to Long Beach, CA). After researching for two weeks, I went with Domestic Auto Transport because it had a lot of customers and lots of pretty good reviews as well. I reserved my pickup time about 2.5 weeks ahead of time. I told Holly I had to have my car picked up by June 24 because I was leaving town the next day and she made sure the transporters (Pioneer Auto Express) knew that.

The only reason I didn't give full 5 stars was that price I paid was a bit higher than the quote I received. I requested two quotes about 1 month apart to similar places (destination Huntington Beach for first quote, then Long Beach for second quote) and the quotes were only $1 off (right around $750). When I called to make the reservation, Holly was very honest from the start though and said that with the number of people needing car transports on my route during June, it would be hard to guarantee pick up by June 24 if I didn't pay more than the quoted price since as the customer I was essentially bidding for a carrier spot. So I ended up paying $1056 at the recommendation of Holly to make sure I got a pickup. I had confirmation of pickup by a carrier within 30 min of hanging up with Holly. So although I had to pay more than the quote, I really appreciate that Holly was honest and open about the process from the start. I only wish the online quotes were more reflective of the real price.

Pioneer Auto Express was also great to work with. They called me several days in advance and updated me almost everyday (sometimes twice a day) with expected pickup time. The day before I left town (June 24), they were supposed to pick up around 8pm. They called me earlier in the day to say the driver would not be able to make it at this time and whether I'd be okay with the next day. I let them know that was not an option since I had an early flight out, so they worked with me and had their driver come pick up my car that night even though it was really late. They gave me an expected arrival day of July 1. I arrived in Long Beach on June 28 and received a call that day to my surprise that my car had arrived, so only 4 days after pickup. My new home was in a neighborhood that would not fit a large tractor trailer so they parked several blocks away and had an extra person drive my car right to the front door of my house. The car was a little dirty as expected from a cross-country trip on an open trailer, but was otherwise just as it was when I left it with the driver in Atlanta.

I am greatful to both Domestic Auto Transport and Pioneer Auto Express for a good experience. I would definitely use them again next time I need my car transported.
