BAIT & SWITCH. BAIT & SWITCH. Illegal. BAIT & SWITCH. BAIT & SWITCH.

He contacted me from a search I put out looking for car transport from Sherman Oaks, CA to Scottsdale AZ, an OUT of State move. First, and foremost, this is not NOT a CAR TRANSPORT company. Broker. Gave me one price, then the day before I needed the car picked up still didn't have a driver. The morning of the PROMISED pick up he said it would be $100 more on the delivery side. He knew I had flight arrangements the following day & movers the next morning.
They don't tell you they are brokers, and not having learned the first time, I didn't think to ask. Nate (Nate McMahon) is the particular broker I was cheated by. He quoted $250 to transport my car from CA to AZ. He said that route was particularly common & it'd be busy in the summer months so I have to send him a $100 deposit via Debit Card to secure that I would have a driver take my car on the day I needed it taken, and deliver SAME day - especially since they'd take the car early that morning and it's a 6 hour drive. Then my balance $150 would be paid in cash upon delivery. PERIOD.
I can't tell you how many times we went over that. I even had that in several emails to confirm and not once did he say it was a misunderstanding or inaccurate. He knew this was a vulnerable move, I have an elderly father who had medical issues. This was a rather sudden move and I had a damaged car delivered several years ago. Oh he had the answer to every issue I had. As the days counted down, I texted him (as we had been communicating by text and email) to inquire about confirmation on time, mentioning the $100 and $150 segments, and he never seemed able to get back to me as diligently as he had all along because as he put it, he was at a doctors office, the gym, working out . BUSY. BUT he texted back the day before the agreed upon pick up date "TRUST ME". What choice did I have???
Finally the day arrives and I get a call from someone in his office who tells me they "finally found" a driver who will do him a favor, (REALLY??) but can't pick up the car until the next day. AND that the fee was now $250 at drop off, not $150 as agreed on. I was confused, and thought he must be mistaken. He just said this is the price, do I want it or not. I said that was a mistake and asked to speak to Nate. When Nate finally agreed to talk to me he might as well have been a totally different person. Everything about him changed. Attitude, angry, loud, harsh. Patronizing and lying. He called me by name like that was supposed to bring me a sense of calm, and said I told you this can happen. He spoke to me like I was a child who was being stubborn. Nate claimed "the driver knows you're in a "pinch" and wants a $100 more." There's nothing he can do about it. I was furious. I was scared. I had everything down to the penny figured on this move and any money I had left was absolutely accounted for, and it wasn't much. He knew that because he worked to gain my trust over the course of our conversations. Acted like a big brother who knew I'd been naive and cheated before. What a jerk I was. What a jerk he IS. Never did he mention the $100
I pulled up the original email containing the link to my agreement. It no longer said $250, nor did it have my deposit listed, only red zeroes where deposit should have been filled in & in big bold type the total was now $350. On the very bottom the name & contact info of the driver. I called the drivers cell number. He assured me he never said those things to diamond line. That his fee was always $250 AND he'd only received the request that morning. My experience with the driver was excellent. The driver was honest, considerate & dependable. IT'S Nate McMahon at DIAMOND LINE who is the CHEATER & LIAR. You don't need a broker to do this for you. If you want one then great, they should be up front about the fee. Not scam you into it. Bait & Switch is illegal. BAIT AND SWITCH IS ILLEGAL!! DO NOT BELIEVE THIS SMOOTH talking, lying being. In fact don't call them AT ALL. There are plenty of Auto Transporters who don't go through brokers. ASK QUESTIONS. Do NOT make a commitment. Then call back another time, ask for a different person & ask all the same questions again. But be aware, I had it all in texts and emails and they still don't care. The only recourse you have is writing a SCATHING, HONEST review and hoping they lose enough business that it will matter. 8/25/16 Nate reached out to me via email threatening with "multiple lawsuits" if I don't remove my reviews. In that same phone call he agreed to give me back the money he swindled from me but only after I removed the reviews. I declined & hung up. He texted me within minutes with a receipt for a pending refund demanding I remove the review. I responded that I would take care of my reviews when the money was IN my account. I told him only then will I amend my review. Consider this my amendment: If you have to work THIS hard to get your money back from Nate & Diamond Line Transport then it wasn't worth doing business with them to begin with. They misrepresent themselves completely. I'm glad I got my money back, but I should never have had to go through all this. Buyer Beware here. Their website is bogus. They lie, the swindle, then suddenly the great and all powerful, charming Nate McMahon become weak and vulnerable pleading & making deals hoping you don't tell others about your experience. BUT NOT BEFORE he threatens to sue you, opens up fake YELP accounts to write good reviews (which Yelp agreed with me twice and removed both false reviews) I hope that Nate develops a conscience and tries to run an honest business when he tries to change the name of the company to quiet the bad reviews.
