I moved from MI to CA and been researching a lot of auto shipping companies (and brokers) and this site helped me a lot with determining with which company to go. So I wanted to post here and maybe I can return the favor.

I first talked with Total Car Shipping since they're cancellation policy was basically "no questions asked" as long as they had not confirmed your driver. After researching them individually more and more I grew more concerned with their reviews, it seems theirs varied by people who either
A. Where beyond satisfied and praised them
or
B. Completely dissatisfied and disgruntled over damages, customer service etc.
The positive reviews where posted in chunks within minutes of each other so though it may not be the case, but it did appear they were perhaps written by people who did not actually ship their cars.
They may be a great company, I don't know, but the reviews gave me enough worries to pass up on them and I decided to go with Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS) instead.

I decided to go with the Terminal-to-Terminal as opposed to the Door-to-Door service, I had a flight to catch and was worried they may not be able to pick up my car in the allotted time-frame I had available.
Turned my car in at their terminal in Warren, MI, it was a smooth and simple procedure, basically they just check the vehicle for various damages.
I had talked with Charles Beaty at DAS who gave me his e-mail and direct number, I saw other reviews about how some people had a hard time getting through to their customer support and I can honestly say this was never an issue during the whole process in my case.

I had gotten the 10-day expedited service and I kept peeking in at their "Track your vehicle" feature on their website, for a long time it just said the vehicle was at the terminal in Warren and waiting to be loaded which seemed strange as the due date for delivery was approaching.
I e-mailed Charles and asked if the tracker was accurate and how often it would update, he responded saying it isn't 100% (obviously) but to check back periodically. I did and voila, the vehicle was now in Transit and in Texas. The estimated delivery date was pushed forward a few days. Given what had been said with all shipping companies I didn't expect it to be on time, I was just hoping it wouldn't be too far away and most of all, in one piece.

The car arrived 3 days later than the original estimated date, which was no problem. I got a call and went to pick it up at the terminal in San Diego. The staff there were courteous and washed my car off and asked me to inspect it prior to signing the papers. No dents or damages, there were 2 minor scratches I could see but really it was nothing, I didn't even bother making a mention of it.
Signed off and drove home.

Basically the only negative was the short delay, which for me was not a problem at all. If you're on a super-tight schedule it might be, but I've heard of so many people who had to wait weeks for their car. DAS reimbursed me $50.00 per day at a total of $150.00 for the delay, the original price was $1200.00 so all in all I got it from MI to CA in 13 days for $1050.00.

Customer service was great, they answered every call and e-mail promptly and followed up on everything. My overall experience with them was much better than I had anticipated so I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to ship their vehicle.
