I contracted with this company last May (2004) because they assured me they would use their company owned truck and not broker the transport. After weeks of being told their truck was broke and wanting to broker the transport, I kept telling them I would wait for their truck to be fixed but they wouldn't schedule me. They brokered the pickup anyway - the trucker called the guy who had the car in Pennsylvania and told him he was coming to get the car. The guy in Pennsylvania called me and asked me if I knew what was going on. I told him no, but I got the trucker's number from him and called the trucker. CCAT quoted me a door to door price, but the driver said he was supposed to go to Spring, Texas where there was a terminal, and he would drop the car off there. I told him I had cancelled the order to CCAT because they couldn't schedule me with their own truck. The trucker said he would deliver the car to me if I paid him the $200 deposit I was expecting to get back from CCAT. I said ok.

I tried to cancel the deposit, but the credit card company said that since I got the service from CCAT, I couldn't refuse the charge. I told them I had cancelled the service with CCAT and had a separate agreement with the trucker. The credit card company didn't see it that way and honored the charge.

CCAT does all the things that consumer organizations warn you about unscrupulous auto transporters. Based on what I have read about them, I guess I was lucky I didn't need the car being delivered, and that it only cost me an extra $200 to finally get the car.
