Initial phone contact and communication with this company was overall dealt with professionally and with good intent by Kate at Cascade Vehicle Shipping. I paid them the brokerage fee of $235- and my truck went on the board...within a few days we had found a carrier willing to take the vehicle from the Seattle, WA area to the Tampa Bay area of FL for $1,175.00 on an open carrier. Vehicle was picked up on August 9, 2012 and arrived a day earlier than expected, August 15, 2012...I was told by both the shipper and Cascade that this would take a minimum of 7 days and maximum of 10 days, so I made my plane reservations accordingly and planned on arriving in time for the seven day minimum...August 16, 2012. I flew out on the 15th and on my way to the airport got a call from the dispatcher of the shipping company saying that the truck was four hours from destination and someone needed to be there to meet the driver...I had no one at the destination point to do that so they left my truck at a storage facility 25 miles from my relocation address on the Bill of Lading...this is where it gets unethical from a "shipping business standpoint". The carrier company would not release the location of the storage facility until I direct deposited the cash payment of the shipping fee of $1,175-...I was not there to receive vehicle and perform inspection so they wanted full payment with NO INSPECTION of shipped vehicle, not what we agreed to on the Bill of Lading and not what I was told by Cascade...so deposit was made by us and they made us wait an additional day before releasing address of the storage facility on Friday, August 17th...the storage facility was supposedly called Fastway Towing in Sarasota, FL and located at 757 Ganett Road, phone # was supposedly 941-894-0921...when I received this information from the shipper I called the phone # immediatley and got a disconnected number...so I got into my rental car and drove to the address to see if my truck was even in the state of FL...I got to the location and the gate was locked and my truck was no where to be seen, I noticed a flat bed truck in the yard and the company name on the truck was Action Towing & Recovery, so I called the number on the truck and got the owner and asked him what is going on here?? He said that my truck was left at his location at 5 PM August 15th, with the neighborring body shop company...he was called and told the shipping company not to leave the truck at his facility, but they did anyway, they just left it there and crossed out all the info on the Bill of Lading!!!...when the owner of Action Towing got to his location he immediately reported the truck as an impound and reported the VIN # to the Sarasota County Sheriff to check to see if it was reported stolen....I told Kate that I was going to report it as a stolen vehicle when my concerns for the vehicles whereabouts and condition were ignored and I was blown off by the shipping company...in hindsight if I would have reported it stolen when I arrived I would have been notified by the Sarasota County Sheriff of the vehicles location...the roof of the vehicle was damaged, but otherwise was in decent shape other than being dirty...I will NEVER deal with Cascade Vehicle Shipping, nor the carrier QUALITY RELOCATION SERVICES INC (SPOKANE, WA) MC # 761775...I would appreciate re-imbursement of the brokerage fee and shipping fee for all the issues I had to deal with and the damage estimate of 785- to the roof of the vehicle...for what it's worth I would rather have just driven the 3500 miles and saved myself the hassle and trouble in dealing with these two companies!! What a joke!!
