June 2022 I was preparing for a move from Otis Oregon to Ridgecrest California and was enquiring via Google about average costs for RV transport. C&P was one of the 1st company's that responded..There where many other companies that responded, but they were either ridiculously expensive or bottom feeders that seemed desperate. I don't recall the name of the individual who assisted me, but the conversation was on point and very strait forward. My RV is a 40' fifth wheel toy hauler that weighs 18,000 lbs empty and was loaded with my Harley Davidson and most of my business equipment, topping out around 19,500 lbs. Because of the extreme weight of the tow I inquired as to what type of truck they would be assigning to handle my move. The gentleman stated that it would either be a Ford F450 or 550 which would have been the perfect vehicles for the job. On the day of pickup the vehicle that showed up was a Ram 3500 dually! Not even close to the max gvw of my RV, the max tow weight of a Ram 3500 is less than that of a Ford F250 super duty which was just shy of the weight of my RV. Furthermore the driver spoke little to no English, definitely NOT the driver who had been talking to me on the phone with updates. Needless to say I was extremely pissed off and sweating bullets on the thought of my RV being transported by this vehicle. I advised the driver that his vehicle was not qualified for a tow of this weight but he just kept going and hooked up anyway. Long story short, The driver arrived within an hour of my arrival to Liberty Self Storage in Ridgecrest California and my RV was in the same condition as it was at time of pickup. The driver on the other hand was pretty freaked out when he asked how much it weighed. Said he used $847 in fuel and through physical movements and facial expressions let me know just how scary the trip was for him. The Hispanic driver was very polite and respectful even though he knew that job was way over his head. In a nutshell, he was a fantastic operator but he was thrown into a job he never should have been in. C&P never once implied that they subbed out the work. C&P were very fortunate that my driver was as skilled as he was. A driver with less skill most likely would not have survived the ordeal.
