I do not normally post reviews, but in searching for a carrier to transport my Corvette for an upcoming move I found this site. It may be possible that CSL Auto Transport has significantly improved since my dealings with them in June of 2010 but my experience was so terrible, I believe the public should know.

1. It was not clear to me during the quote process that CSL is a third party broker, that contracts with actual shipping companies to move your vehicle but doesn’t seem to own any trucks/trailers themselves. They quoted $1,800 to move my corvette from Ft Walton Beach, FL to Colorado Springs, CO – I later found out in talking with the driver that his company was only paid about $1,400 to move my vehicle (a $400 broker fee seems extreme given their poor service!)

2. My Corvette was to be picked up on a Saturday (the day before my family was set to move to Colorado), and on Friday afternoon Chris Leeper called to say that the truck had been in a accident in Miami, FL and wouldn’t be able to pick up my vehicle. When I asked Chris what his company intended to do about this he waffled… finally he tried to convince me to drop my 2 year old Corvette at “a local Wal-Mart” and leave the keys in it! Needless to say that is not the right answer… When I told him this he said there was nothing more he could do for me. I decided that I would take my car to a friend’s house where it would be held until CSL could arrange another truck to pick it up.

3. On the following Thursday, CSL arranged to have it pickup up and it was loaded (no issues) and the truck proceeded to Colorado.

4. I received a call from the truck driver (name unknown) saying he was headed to Colorado Springs and could drop my corvette later that day – all I had to do was have “1,800 dollars for Cash on Delivery” – UNFORTUNATELY for me, I had PRE-PAID CSL Auto Transport the $1,800! When I told the driver this, he responded that his paperwork said COD and he was going to bypass Colorado Springs altogether if I wasn’t going to pay! After a number of frantic phone calls to CSL Auto transport - no answers. I was prepared to have the driver stop in Colorado Springs anyway (even if I had to convince him that I would pay again) and had copies of contract, all email exchanges, and a paid check from my bank – I was also prepared to have the local police involved (this was MY car!)

5. Finally about 2 hours before the driver was going to bypass Colorado Springs, Chris Leeper contacted him and corrected the CSL paperwork error and I received my vehicle. The truly disappointing part of the whole situation is Chris never once apologized for my many inconveniences – never offered to refund any part of the money I had pre-paid – and had an attitude of “not my problem” during every crisis!

This was my first experience shipping a vehicle – and will be my LAST experience with CSL Auto Transport. I will be working with a reputable company that prides itself on Customer Service and isn’t a Middleman Broker (that adds a 20 plus percent fee). Again – maybe CSL Auto Transport has changed since 2010 – but I’m not willing to take the risk… Are you?
